Google a destination. Any destination, Wayanad, Manali, Lonavala or Darjeeling. 7 out of 10 results talk about the same attractions in that destination. They recommend the attractions by saying you can’t afford to miss them. Guess what? You can miss some of them! You don’t have to tick every attraction if you are getting an immersive local experience instead.
I have always been a fan of offbeat experiences and attractions. Experiences which are commensurate with the local flavors and culture. Sights which aren’t swarming with tourists and not yet glorified by travel publications.
So, how to escape the urge to just tick off attractions during a trip? How to seek experiences instead? Be one with the uniqueness of the destination and return rejuvenated after an enriched experience? Well, that’s where the re-branded Sterling Resorts come to rescue.
I was invited to the launch of ‘Holiday Differently’. During the launch, Mr Peshwa Acharya, CMO of Sterling Holidays, spoke about the new brand identity and vision. They are re-branding and shifting the focus on enriched experiences, destination discovery and crafting memories to offer an unforgettable trip.
Mr. Acharya talking about “Holiday Differently”
How is Sterling Holidays changing?
Instead of just visiting attractions and sunset points, experiencing something local is a much more fulfilling way to travel. I remember visiting Kodaikanal recently and the hotel recommended a local travel agent. He had a set list of view points and in one day, we covered 6 of them. If you ask me, it seemed like these view points were given a name and included in the list, so that a tourist might get a perceived notion of having seen a lot. But, most of these points didn’t excite me at all! Rather, if we were offered a hiking tour and lunch at a local’s house, I would have been more thrilled.
Sterling Holidays is doing just that. They are now focusing to deliver experience based holidays. Now, you can go to their Darjeeling resort and enjoy a tea plantation trail. Or visit their Ooty resort and interact with the Todas, a local tribe. Going to Kanha for some wildlife adventure? Stay with Sterling and admire the star-lit night sky by opting for their night gazing experience.
Apart from curating a wide range of local experiences, Sterling is also focusing on the ‘discovery’ aspect of travel. For example, Mr. Peshwa Acharya talked about Dindi which is located in Andhra Pradesh. I had never heard about this destination. Sterling Resort at Dindi provides a wide range of immersive experiences like visiting a weaver’s village, cycle in paddy fields, interacting with the locals and understanding the Konaseema. Apart from that, you can also enjoy an enticing sound of local cuisine! Now that sounds like a discovery I would be excited for.
What else does Sterling Holidays offer?
Apart from the immersive experiences, Sterling Holidays is also going to offer a Holiday Insurance. This would be a door to door insurance. It would insure everything from the moment you step out of the door, reach your preferred Sterling Resort and return. This is the first time any travel company is offering such an insurance, at least in India.
Sterling Holidays has also planned surprises for the guests. They have created a calendar of 100 festivals and events across the resorts which would offer you a surprise experience. This calendar is aptly called 100 Days of Joy. Well, who doesn’t like surprises, right?
Sterling Holidays New Logo and Mascot
To communicate their re-branding, Sterling Holidays has also launched a new logo and Mascot. The logo is in form of a dynamic swirl with more vibrant colors. The new colors would resonate more with the young crowd and portray a rich amalgamation of enchanting experiences with plush stay and memories. They have also launched a discovery mascot and named him as ‘Raja Rex’. The mascot portrays inquisitiveness, exactly what a traveler should have. In order to experience the best of a destination, having curiosity helps a lot.
Sterling Resorts presence
As of now, Sterling has 29 Resorts across some of the best destinations in India. Spread in 26 destinations, the wide presence of Sterling Resorts would connect with all sorts of travelers. In near future, Sterling Resorts would expand beyond the current locations and offer a lot more to a curious traveler.
If you plan to travel for immersive experiences, have a look at their resorts.
